Maeana

Maeana (معنا, With Us) is a services super-app for Saudi Arabia. From one place, people rent a car, ship freight by weight and route, order food from their favorite brands and cafes, and reach services from medical to home to education. We built the whole platform: a customer app, a provider app, and a field-agent app, on a GraphQL microservices backend with live maps and ZATCA-compliant invoicing. Arabic-first, right to left.

The Challenge

What we were up against

Maeana is not one service, it is dozens: car rental, freight, food from big brands, medical, home, education, and more, all in one app. The hard part was making a sprawling catalog feel simple to browse and book.

Each category books differently. Renting a car by type and transmission is nothing like booking a truck by weight and route, or ordering from a restaurant brand. The app had to hold many flows without feeling like many apps.

It runs in Arabic, right to left, priced in Saudi riyals, and every order has to produce a ZATCA-compliant invoice, so tax compliance was built into the platform from day one.

Our Approach

How we solved it

1

One Super-App, Three Sides

A customer app to browse and book, a provider app for the businesses delivering the service, and a field-agent app for the people coordinating on the ground, all React Native on one shared backend.

2

A Category for Everything

Car rental with type, transmission, and date filters. Freight by vehicle, weight, and route. Food from brands and cafes with ratings and open-or-closed status. Each category gets its own booking flow.

3

A GraphQL Microservices Backend

A NestJS backend split into microservices, on Sequelize and PostgreSQL with Redis queues, Firebase push, and Google Maps, plus built-in ZATCA e-invoicing so every order settles the Saudi way.
