Al Shorok
The online storefront for Dar Al Shorok, a Jordanian publisher established in 1979. We re-platformed the store from end-of-life Magento 1 to Magento 2, unified two libraries in one shop (printed books that ship and a digital library of 115+ titles), and built a secure in-browser EPUB reader so digital purchases are read in place, not downloaded.

The Challenge
What we were up against
Dar Al Shorok, publishing out of Jordan since 1979, was running its store on Magento 1. With Magento 1 past its end of life and no longer receiving security patches, the store had to move to Magento 2 without losing the catalog, the customers, or the search rankings built up over years.
The store also serves two catalogs at once: printed books that ship, and digital books read on the spot. Digital titles are a publisher's asset to protect, so they had to open in a secure in-browser reader rather than download as a file that could be copied or shared. Both catalogs still had to live in one shop, under one account and one cart.
And it runs in Arabic, right to left, as a working bookstore. Accounts, wishlists, a cart, multi-currency pricing, a browsable digital library of more than a hundred titles filtered by subject, and clean order records the Al Shorok team manages themselves.

How we solved it
Magento 1 to Magento 2 Migration
Re-platformed the store off end-of-life Magento 1 onto Magento 2, carrying the catalog, customers, and orders across so nothing broke for returning readers.
Two Libraries, One Store
A paper library and a digital library kept as distinct sections but unified under one account and cart, with subject filtering and sort across the digital catalog.
Secure EPUB Reader
A built-in, secure EPUB reader for purchased digital titles, so books open in the browser and stay protected instead of downloading as a shareable file.
